Congress: An incovenient truth
So far so much for Modi bashism! By continuously demonizing Modi as a merchant of death, Congress aspires to achieve a higher moral ground. Unfortunately the memory of nation is so weak that we fail to recognize Congress's own contribution to communal violence and mass murders.
Whatever happened at Gujarat is indeed condemnable and deplorable to every extent but the congress party should have the least right to take any political advantage of this, as their own track record in perpetrating communal violence has been much impressive.

Just a quick glance through Congress's own track record of Communal violence:

1947 Indian partition:

Thanks to the ambition and a great vision of Nehru, and despite being ensured by Gandhi that partition will be over my dead body, the great Indian subcontinent was divided. It resulted in the death of thousands of innocent men, women and children, gifiting two young nations permanent rivalry for ages to come. Countless lives have been lost in country because of permanent hatred, terrorism and many more will be lost in future. Who hold the responsibility of putting this great nation into such a mess for the generations to come?

1969 Ahmedabad riots:
Communal riots between Hindus and Muslims erupted in Ahmedabad in 1969. Atleast 1000 people had died during this riot. At the time there was a dispute over the leadership of the Congress party between Indira Gandhi and Morarji Desai. There were suggestions that violence was deliberately engineered to discredit the chief minister of Gujarat who was a supporter of Mr Desai.

1984 sikh riots:
The assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984 sparked riots that lasted 15 days. Several inquiry panels later, eight people were convicted. The politicians and police got away. Chaos reigned on the streets and locality after locality in the capital echoed with the shrieks of the dying and burning people. A fortnight of carnage saw over 2,700 dead and many thousands injured.
Rajiv Gandhi as Prime Minister at a Boat Club rally 19-days after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, said “Some riots took place in the country following the murder of Indiraji. We know the people were very angry and for a few days it seemed that India had been shaken. But, when a mighty tree falls, it is only natural that the earth around it does shake a little.”

So the question is, does Congress has even a fibre of moral right to accuse Modi of being merchant of Death when they themselves have been Industry of Death?

Well there is little lack of understanding on ur part.At the time of riot definitely passion run very high, but after that comes the peace. Now as far as congress is concern they have asked for forgiveness not because they are on high moral ground . But because without that they "think" that they cann't win the election. So now take the case of Mr. Modi, he hasn't asked for forgiveness because he things by doing he will loss the election. i hope u hv grasp the difference in two approach.Religious hard-lining was never n never will be good politics in long run.

Leave that for a moment if Mr. Modi is accused in way people are bashing or not. But still he was CM . Peace in state is his responsibility.

Now look from different angle , killing a "Muslims" solved nothing ,they keep on revenging some time blasting in 1st class of local train (mostly gujrati) ,some time in diamond market(mostly gujrati). So spreading hatred never worked .

Thankyou Anonymous for your comment. I dont agree that its just a question of Congress asking for forgiveness and Modi refusing to provide it. Asking for forgiveness is something too easy for politicans, and Modi could have done it much earlier. The reason why he couldnt do it is that it would immediately vindicate Congress and would prove him a national culprit. So he has to swallow his guilt and keep smiling to keep a smaller faction of Hindu hardliners happy and a larger faction of moderate Hindu society neutral. Though I strongly feel once he starts charting territory of National politics, a statement of sorrow and sympathy would surely come off his mouth to appease larger nation.

On Modi's approach of handling post Godhra riot, he unfortunately was a no saint and tried to capitalize on the public sentiment by not doing his Raj-Dharma. But for that, he should be hold as accountable as Nehru was for partition or as Indira Gandhi was for Gujrat riots or as Rajiv Gandhi was for Sikh massacre. Did we ever chastized those leaders for their inaction? We instead gave them years after years in power.

Congress on the other hand, has deliberately manufactured a systematic character assassination of Modi fearing his capabilities of effective administration and potential candidature for PM post. My point is simply that by singing the rhymes of deploring Modi's act in tune with Congress, we embrace a larger sinister who are the inventors of communal polity in India.

Killing, whomsoever the person may be is extremely deplorable and is an unfortunate reality of today's humanity. The mobocracy is never rational, and sadly India still suffers from it. Let our judiciary decide and punish Mr. Modi and his associates for whatever involvement he had in the riots but lets not give the political mileage and embrace Congress for this!

Good one. Congress should stop scratching these old wounds of communal acrimony and better have a growth agenda.
